SHORT STORY: The Foreign Letter (Part One)
Kelcey sat in her chair in the nursing home. Her old, wooden chair groaned as she swayed back and forth. He crossed her mind, and she tried to shake it off. She stared blankly at the clock, as the second hand jumped around and around. The incessant ticking would drive any sane person mad, but it didn't even phase her. The young nurse peered in the door, and Kelcey didn't even flinch. He was still haunting her. As if the doorway to heaven opened, she was engulfed in a pure, white light. A wave of grief consumed her, as she realized her mistake. She wished she could talk to him just one more time, wished she could hear his American accent one more time, and even longed to see his smile, or feel comforted by his hearty laugh. She felt a solitary tear fall down her cheek, and made no effort to wipe it off as it crashed to the floor. Kelcey stood up, and walked across the room to her bed.
